Career description

The first year of the program, being a Master's in Economics, is focused on micro and macroeconomic principles, mathematical and econometric aspects that contribute to measure the performance of companies and the country.

For the Master's Degree in Economics with Specialization in Customs Management, the second year includes topics of tariff classification and customs valuation, the customs code and its regulations, as well as the World Trade Organization and international institutions that govern trade and customs management at the international level. In addition, logistics for foreign trade operations and customs procedures.

For the Master's Degree in Economics with Specialization in Risks, in the second year students will study courses related to different types of risks, such as operational risk, credit risk, risk administration and management models, and different types of risks in general on the economic stability of companies or the country.

What will you learn during the program?

For the Master's Degree in Economics (with Specialization in Customs Management, with Specialization in International Trade), students will learn about micro and macroeconomics, international finance, econometrics, national and international commercial contracts, the World Trade Organization, international cooperation institutions, study and analysis of trade agreements signed by Guatemala, as well as international arbitration and conciliation.

For the Master's Degree in Economics with Specialization in Risks, students will learn and deepen their knowledge of micro and macroeconomics, international finance, econometrics, statistical analysis. They will also learn about different types of risk, such as liquidity risk, market risk, and operational risk; the use of models and matrices to measure risk and present reports related to the subject.
