It is a career that promotes veterinarian training by integrating technical and scientific aspects with the latest technology. The program is designed for students to acquire a series of theoretical knowledge and develop practical experiences that guarantee the success of professionals graduating from it.

What will you learn during the program?

In this career, you will learn to identify the different animal species that make up the animal kingdom and how they interact with humans and with one another. You will develop anatomical, macro and microscopic knowledge about the different anatomical, macro and microscopic structures that conform them and how they function physiologically according to the biochemical metabolism in a state of health and disease. You will also recognize the different microbiological agents that can intervene in their health as beneficial or pathological agents, and you will acquire competences on the pharmacological or surgical therapeutics to be applied according to the correct diagnosis and the chemical basis of the treatment. Furthermore, you will learn to work with animals in a respectful framework for life, guaranteeing animal welfare, as well as human health and safety.

To have a solid background in the fields of exact, biological, chemical, social and humanistic sciences. Have basic knowledge of the English language and computers. Be responsible and proactive during professional training, have the ability to work in teams and to interact with people from different cultural and economic backgrounds. Veterinarians graduated from Mariano Galvez University will have the technical and scientific knowledge and skills to promote the health and welfare of animals by increasing their productive and functional efficiency through the diagnosis of diseases, medical therapeutic actions, surgical procedures, application of genetic improvement and reproduction techniques, including the development of feeding techniques, housing, hygiene and preventive medicine at the highest level of current technology.

In addition, they keep human health through the prevention of zoonoses, the suitable use of natural resources, the assurance of quality and safety of food of animal origin through epidemiological studies and public health measures, considering all the interactions between human beings, the environment and animals.

Career Opportunities

Professionals with a degree in veterinary medicine are highly qualified to work in the official sector of animal health surveillance, food safety (animal food packing plants and slaughterhouses), registration and control of veterinary medicines, import and export of animal inputs and human food of animal origin, clinical work with production species (poultry, bovine and swine farms), wildlife conservation and rescue centers, veterinary diagnostic laboratory, companion animal clinics, animal management in natural disasters, teaching and research applied to the livestock world.
