Career description

The theoretical and practical course addresses knowledge of pathologies that are solved by surgical or potentially surgical procedures, both elective and emergency of benign or inflammatory, traumatic or neoplastic nature. It also deals with emergencies of supra surgical specialty, considering the physiological, pathological, psychological and social factors that significantly influence the quality of life of the individual. It is supported by research and evidence-based medicine, which is founded on the epidemiological profile of the country and the advances in surgical care. The course demands from the student the commitment to self-training, monitoring the development of their competencies based on the knowledge of the program.

What will you learn during the program?

During the Master's Degree in General Surgery, you will develop fundamental skills to perform effectively at any level of the National Health System. Through the integration of knowledge of basic sciences, you will be skillfully oriented in the surgery of surgical pathology, proficiently using diverse surgical techniques. You will be able to promptly identify the most frequent surgical complications and face them with technical and emotional skills, even when performing highly complex procedures with the assistance of specialists. In addition, the Master's Degree program, will enable you to solve administrative problems of the administrative service, to display a significant fine motor development in the execution of surgical procedures, and to acquire a critical and open mentality in the face of new knowledge. You will learn to comprehensively manage the surgical patient in all phases: preoperative, trans-operative and postoperative, by applying ethical principles and values at all times in your professional actions.
