We are honoured to welcome future veterinary doctors to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, where academic excellence and a commitment to training successful professionals are at the forefront. At our faculty, we recognise the importance of studying and training in animal care and health not only as a vocation, but also as a way of making a fundamental contribution to building a healthier and more balanced world.
The veterinary medical profession plays a crucial role in health, taking an interdisciplinary approach that recognises the strong links between human, environmental and animal health. Veterinary professionals are essential in fostering the health and wellbeing of both animals and people. They make a substantial contribution to the prevention of zoonotic diseases, ensuring food safety and promoting the sustainable management of natural resources.
We promote a holistic approach that transcends traditional boundaries, with a commitment to prioritising health in the training of our students and the professional practice of our graduates.
We hope that your visit to our website marks the beginning of your exciting journey of discovery and learning in the world of veterinary medicine.
We warmly welcome you to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Mariano Gálvez in Guatemala, where our shared mission is to promote animal, human and environmental health!.
Sincerely,Dr. Rudy Alexander Rebuli Castañeda
Learning
The veterinary medicine degree programme is currently offered at the central campus and the Petén campus. The program is offered in a fully in-person format, through an academic process that integrates theoretical and practical courses in biological, chemical, social, medical, and exact sciences. Students' knowledge is complemented by a wide range of practical training courses, including clinical practice, laboratory work and fieldwork.
In addition, the programme features laboratories and practice centres equipped with technological tools to enhance learning in veterinary science.
We work in partnership with some of the country's leading hospitals, animal production units and wildlife rescue and conservation centres. These partnerships enable us to provide valuable practical experience to help our students develop their competencies and skills.
Consequently, upon completing their academic programme, our graduates will be equipped with the necessary knowledge, experience and skills to excel in various fields of veterinary medicine.
